Delete Your WorshipWire Account
You can delete your WorshipWire account at any time. This page explains how to do it from inside the app and how to request deletion if you no longer have access to the app.
Delete from inside the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from your profile settings:
- Open the WorshipWire app on your phone or in the web app at worshipwire.io
- Sign in with the email and password for the account you want to delete
- Tap your profile picture in the bottom navigation, or open the Profile tab
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
The deletion runs immediately. Your account and personal data are removed within seconds; anonymization of any content you posted in your churches happens in the same operation.
Request deletion if you can't sign in
If you no longer have access to your account (lost password, deleted the app, no longer have the email address), submit a deletion request and we will process it for you:
- Use our contact form and select Account help as the topic, or email info@worshipwire.io from the email address associated with the account.
- Include enough information for us to verify the account belongs to you (full name, approximate date of registration, name of the church you joined).
- We will respond within 7 business days and delete the account once your identity is confirmed.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from our systems:
- Your authentication record (email and password)
- Your user profile (name, contact info, profile photo, bio)
- Your blocked-users list
- Your notification preferences and FCM push tokens
- Your membership entries are removed from every church you belonged to (you are no longer listed in any church directory)
What is anonymized but kept
Some content you posted is retained by the church you posted it in, with your authorship anonymized. This preserves the community context for other members (a thread of comments doesn't suddenly lose its replies):
- Posts and announcements you created — the author is changed to "[deleted user]" and your profile photo is removed
- Prayer requests you submitted — same anonymization
- Comments you wrote on posts — author is anonymized; comment text is retained
- Chat messages — sender display name becomes "[deleted user]"; message content is retained for the other participants
If you want a specific post, prayer, or comment removed instead of anonymized, please email info@worshipwire.io with the request before deleting your account.
What is kept
For legal, security, and operational reasons, we may retain the following after account deletion:
- Anonymized audit logs — system records that show "user X deleted account on date Y" without retaining your personal details. Kept for up to 24 months for security investigation purposes.
- Aggregated analytics — usage statistics that don't identify you personally (e.g., monthly active user counts).
- Tax and billing records — if you were a paying customer (church admin on a paid plan), invoices and payment records are retained as required by tax law (typically 7 years in the U.S.).
- Backups — nightly backups may contain your data for up to 35 days from the date of deletion before they are overwritten by newer backups.
Special note for church administrators
If you are the sole administrator of a church on WorshipWire, deleting your account does not delete the church or its members. Before deleting your account, please either:
- Transfer ownership of the church to another administrator (Profile → My Churches → tap the church → Transfer Ownership), or
- Email info@worshipwire.io if you also want the church and its data fully removed.
